Our Founder: Cecelia Peters

The Beginning
Growing up in Liberia, my mother struggle to find food for our family of eleven. The holidays were my favorite time of year, but they were challenging because we often had to choose between receiving gifts and having enough food on the table.
After moving to the United States, I sent money to friends and family in Liberia to provide financial means to buy food. When the pandemic broke out in 2020, I realized I had the opportunity to help more families in Liberia put food on the table. This is how Cece Rice Kitchen began, and it was self-funded until 2024.
The Impact
In 2024, I had a conversation with a wonderful sister in Christ who is involved in the Jax Prayer Club with me. We discussed how I had been funding the Rice Kitchen by myself and expressed some of the financial challenges. Without hesitation, my friend suggested that the Jax Prayer Club would provide a donation for 2024. This act of generosity inspired me to reach out to family and friends to request their support for the Rice Kitchen. Thanks to everyone's generous contributions in 2024, the Cece Rice Kitchen successfully distributed eighty bags of rice to an orphanage, a home for the blind, and dozens of families in Liberia for Christmas.

Your Support
I am beyond grateful for those who join in this effort to make an impact and provide opportunities to families! It is evident that when people unite to support one another, they can make a significant difference to families in need. The incredible generosity continues to inspire support for families in Liberia. Now I am asking for your support to continue this impact. Your support can help us expand our efforts to provide rice to families in Liberia and make a difference to those who need it most.
